How Do Kids Find Themselves in Foster Care?

Of the 25 children that I have personally cared for in my home (not including respite care, which I will describe in a future post), a whopping 23 of them were in the fostercare system because their parents had drug or alcohol related problems.  That’s 92% of them!  Of the two remaining kids, one was in foster care because his parents allowed a dog to bite him despite repeated warnings from CPS about this danger. The other was placed in foster care because of general neglect.
