Money

Foster parenting is no way to make a buck – at least not the way I do it! While it is true that foster parents receive reimbursements from the county or their referral agency, I find that the amount is rarely enough to cover my expenses. For example, pictured here is the latest bill from the after school program that my kids attend. (You can click on it to expand it.) Note the $1,230 total? This alone eats away most of my reimbursement money for all three kids, and this is during the school year when day care costs are the lowest! During the summer months I’m in the "red" from day care and summer programs alone. I’m not complaining, though, as I knew this going in. We foster parents are not in this for the money.
