Over and Done

Dinner was grand. We gave thanks and then, like the bird, we stuffed ourselves ‘til we could stuff no more. There was turkey, of course, and corned bread stuffing. There were mashed potatoes and gravy, and green bean casserole. There was salad, crescent rolls and cranberry sauce. And special mention must go to my Mother’s brandied yams!

To think I was worried about not having enough!

After dinner we played “telephone”, also known as “gossip”. While seated around the big table one person thought of a phrase and whispered it to their neighbor. Then that neighbor whispered the phrase on to the next person, and on and on until the phrase is passed all the way around the table. The last person then announced what the phrase was, or what it turned into. It’s amazing how messed up a simple sentence can become when passed between nine people!

Next up was dessert. There was homemade apple pie, pumpkin pie, pecan pie, Dave’s pumpkin brownie bread, pumpkin cookies from one of K & H’s sisters, and a rolled cake that reminded everyone of a giant vanilla Hostess Ho-Ho.

There will be no breakfast for me. Now, on to the sibling sleepover...
